Christine BARTHE

Curator for Argentina and Mexico, in tandem with Valeria Gonzalez and Alejandro Castellanos

Christine Barthe has been the scientific manager of the heritage unit of the photographic collections at the musée du quai Branly since 2004. She was the scientific advisor for the exhibition “D’un regard l’Autre”, curator for the exhibitions “ Le Yucatan est ailleurs. Photographic expeditions (1857-1886) by Désiré Charnay” and “Camera obscura, first daguerrotype portraits 1841-1851” in 2007. Curator for Mexico with Alfredo Cruz at Photoquai 2007, she takes over, for Photoquai 2009, as curator for Argentina and Mexico in tandem with Valeria Gonzalez and Alejandro Castellanos.

 

Alejandro CASTELLOTE

Curator for Brazil and Peru

Spanish specialist of Latin American photography, he joined the photographic department of the Fine Arts Circle in 1985. He worked there for 12 years, and then became the Artistic Director of the PhotoEspana Festival from 1999 à 2001. Alejandro Castellote published Mapas Abiertos Fotografía latinoamericana 1991-2002, and was curator of the exhibition of the same name, which took place both in Europe and in Latin America. He is currently working as a teacher, author, publisher and independent curator.

 

Hélène FULGENCE

Curator for India, in tandem with Pablo Bartholomew.

Born in Le Havre in 1964, a graduate of the HEC Business School in 1987, Hélène Fulgence studied dramatic art with Niels Arestrup during the same period. After her first professional experience managing the exhibitions of the Georges Pompidou Centre from 1992 to 1994, she joined the director Dominique Pitoiset with whom she managed the Centre Dramatique national de Bourgogne. Responsible for planning an international youth theatre festival, she expanded her knowledge of European, Latin American and Asiatic creation there. Appointed deputy director of the festival Paris Quartier d’Eté in 1998, she particularly worked on staging various outdoor events (performing arts and plastic arts) in the urban environment. After a mission defining the educational policy and the exhibitions programme of the future Cinémathèque de France in 2001, she took on, in 2002 her current functions at the musée du quai Branly , where she created the Cultural Development Department.

 

Yves LE FUR

Curator for Australia and New Zealand, in tandem with Maud Page and Anne Noble

Director of the Heritage and Collections Department, manager of the permanent collections at the musée du quai Branly. This former curator at the National Museum of African and Oceanic Arts, has published, among others « La mort n'en saura rien : Reliques d'Europe et d'Océanie », 1999. Yves Le Fur is also an exhibition curator. He presented the exhibition « d'un regard l'Autre » at the musée du quai Branly in autumn 2006, the manifesto exhibition for the musée.

 

Céline MARTIN-RAGET

Curator for North America and Canada, in tandem with Martha Langford and in charge of research for the diasporas.

Céline Martin-Raget started out with a Masters Degree in art and aesthetics. After a few incursions into the world of music and television, she joined a communications agency as artistic director, and commissioned work with artists and photographers, and edited exhibition catalogues and books… before joining the musée du quai Branly which gave her the task of setting up the image centre.

 

Mouna MEKOUAR
Commissaire pour les pays du Maghreb, Tunisie, Maroc, Algérie.

Diplômée de l'Institut national du patrimoine (conservateur dans la spécialité musée) et doctorante en histoire de l'art, Mouna Mekouar a été commissaire de l'exposition "Roger Parry" tenue au Jeu de Paume en 2007. Elle participe actuellement à la préparation et à l'organisation de l'exposition inaugurale du Centre Pompidou-Metz (2010).

Tadashi ONO
Commissaire pour le Japon et l’Asie du Sud-Est, en tandem avec Alexander Supartono.

Tadashi Ono, photographe né à Tokyo, est diplômé de l'École nationale supérieure de la photographie à Arles. Depuis, il collabore à diverses revues photographiques japonaises et européennes, et faisait partie de la rédaction du Dictionnaire de la Photographie (Larousse, 1996). Ses travaux photographiques sont exposés notamment à la Bibliothèque nationale de France et au Museum of modern art de Tokyo. Il a réalisé en 2006 l’archive photographique de l’œuvre majeure de Jean Tinguely, Le Cyclop, pour le Centre national des arts plastiques. Il enseigne également à l’Atelier de Sèvres. onotad.free.fr

Valeria GONZALEZ
Commissaire pour l’Argentine, en tandem avec Christine Barthe.

Titulaire d’une licence d’Histoire de l’art (Université de Buenos Aires, UBA), Valeria GONZALEZ est professeur d’art contemporain (UBA, Universidad Nacional de 3 de Febrero, Universidad T. Di Tella) et chercheuse (UBA) spécialisée en photographie. Elle est membre de l’AICA, collaboratrice au quotidien Página 12 et auteur du livre “El Pez, la Bicicleta y la Máquina de Escribir” (Ediciones Proa, 2005) ; depuis 1996, elle travaille comme curatrice indépendante. Elle est actuellement curatrice de la Casa del Bicentenario (Maison du Bicentenaire) (Secrétariat d’état à la culture d’Argentine).

Martha LANGFORD
Commissaire pour l’Amérique du Nord et du Canada, en tandem avec Céline Martin-Raget.

Martha Langford est professeur en Histoire de l'art et titulaire d'une chaire à l'Université Concordia. Son dernier ouvrage publié est Scissors, Paper, Stone: Expressions of Memory in Contemporary Photographic Art (2007). Langford a été commissaire générale du Mois de la photo à Montréal en 2005. Elle apporte sa contribution à PhotoQuai en collaboration avec Sherry Farrell Racette, la spécialiste des Premières Nations. Elles sont co-commissaires de Unmasking : Arthur Renwick, Adrian Stimson, Jeff Thomas pour le Centre culturel canadien à Paris.

Alexander SUPARTONO
Commissaire pour le Japon et l’Asie du Sud-Est, en tandem avec Tadashi Ono.

Né en 1972, Alexander Supartono est professeur au Département de Photographie de la Faculté du Film et de Télévision du Jakarta Art Institute. Il a également travaillé comme chercheur et commissaire indépendant pour plusieurs institutions culturelles et galeries dans son pays et à l’étranger. Il prépare actuellement une Maîtrise d’études sur l’Asie du Sud-Est et d’Histoire de l’Art/Photographie à l’Université de l’Ohio, aux Etats-Unis.
